I will be staying in South Padre from the 15th through the 22nd of Feb. and I want to do some wade fishing in the surf and I would welcome any input. I fished the surf once about 3 years ago and remember that I caught a fish called a whiting, using shrimp and some type of bait strip, can't remember the name, it was in strips and pink. What is it called and does it still work?

They are called fish bites, and I hear good things about them.

Fishbites works pretty well. It got costly this last year and I stopped using them. Use some cut mullet on the 2nd gut and see if you can pick up a redfish or 2.
