People on the jetty are calling them Pompano but that doesn't look like a Pompano to me. They are all 12" to 16" it seems. Just curious. Thanks in advance!

Yup. It's a blue. Great fighters, ferocious strikes. Don't lip them......

They were all over the surf yesterday. Probably caught 12-15 of them, mostly on live shrimp but a few on croakers. Missed a lot more. They were hard to get a hook in but helped keep my attention on a fairly slow day beach fishing. Other than them I caught a couple keeper speckled trout and weirdly enough a 25" mullet on a live shrimp.

Can you eat em?

Eventually, luck will change. Skills, however, can be honed, added to, and improved.

Yeah definitely not the greatest but it is eatable. Just have to bleed'em while they are alive, ice them real good, cut the red out of the fillet, soak and purge them with your brine or acid solution (vinegar or buttermilk) and deep fry with a real good batter or real good breading.

I think you can do this with an old boot too but I don't think I want to eat them. LOL

Bluefish are eatable but they are a dark oily meat. They will bite you if you are in the water and they are having a feeding frenzy. Numerous accounts of this in Florida. They are usually in big schools and can catch quite a few in short time. They love silver spoons. P.S you don't want to stick your finger in there mouth.

I would not recommend eating them, especially fried. Very oily and bloody.

The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.
