just a quick question about keeping or releasing, what do most of you do when you catch the big drums/ reds Ect.... Do you have to toss back in or keep as you wish?

Most of us release the big Drums be it Red or Black because they do not make good table fare, Think Veal vs tuff round steak. The smaller fish of these species is what you want to box. Once a year we all get a tag with our licence that allows us to keep one trophy Bull Red and and you can even mail it in for a bonus tag but that does not mean we all take home our bull- Reds and Blacks both are in a slot of size range they can be kept but there is no legal way to keep a oversized Black, not that you would want to anyway. Properly done a Big Red can be tasty but you'll find no matter how its prepared it will not compare to the quality of a speck, flounder or smaller drum.
Actually. I don't know what most people do with them but I can tell you its the only fish I target for catch and release in near shore waters.

Slot reds 20-28 inches are the best eating. So are the blacks. Take a pic of your big ones and send 'em back to keep breeding.

Thanks guys, funny thing, I don't eat fish, but I have fun catching them and cooking them up for the family.
