I've been fishing the surf with a calcutta 700 and a 6'6" falcon costal. Yakin out and dropping bait 200 yds out or so. But I'm getting tired of paddling out. Want to start casting from shore I just can't make a decision on a rod. I'd by mainly using fish finder rigs with mullet. I also want the rod to be usable for the bay. So no 15'rs.

If I were looking for long distance casting advice and a new rod, I would advise calling and talking to these folks at Breakaway Tackle: http://www.breakawayusa.com/about-us/They make excellent rods and terminal tackle designed for long casting, and I am sure they should have what you are looking for.
