Friday - We kayaked baits out and set up our drum rods. We had a strong run on one of our 400 yard shark drops. It ran for about minute and stopped. When we went to tighten the line back up we realized the fish was still on. We fought it for about 3-4 minutes and the line went slack. Apparently, it wasn't hooked very well since we got back our leader undamaged.

Saturday - In the morning, my first casted rod got hit so hard i thought I would get spooled before I got to my rod. This fish also dropped the bait. The rest of the day went REALLY slow. We had no bites at all. After dark things changed. Starting around 9pm our rods starting going off. We were averaging a bull red or a large black drum every twenty minutes with a few double hook ups. We got so busy reeling them in and running back and fourth that I got sick of running back to the Jeep to get the camera. I fished until about 2am and decided to call it a night. I left the rest of my team still fishing.

Sunday - I woke up at 7am to a team member banging on my window. When the water level came up Saturday night it softened the beach and he was stuck. From 7am to 10:30am I ended up pulling 4 trucks off the beach. I was done after that so I packed up and went home. Please be careful when you go to Sargent and use your head. If you are in a 2WD be even more careful. One of the trucks I pulled out was a lifted 4X4 that got stuck in the clay. There is only a few inches of sand that sits on top of the clay on that beach. If you drive on the wet sand, you will get stuck.

Overall we had a great time! All fish were Catch and Release.

Nice trip/report. What are you using for bait on your yak out lines?

This weekend we were using stingray, whiting and mullet.
