I'm considering taking another 56hr tuna trip on the scat cat. Sadly the only time I seem to have available lands on a full moon. I've heard that the best time is the new moon. Can someone that's taken it on a full moon tell me if it's any different? I'm looking at the 1st of December trip.
Thanks...

3 days prior to and 3 days after seemed to be the target we used to try to book a few years ago. you should be fine, the moon will give the fish something to see on the top of the water. I would use a big flying fish lure or a big popper for sure. black and purple are my favorites.

While I don't discount the fact that moon phases can affect the tuna fishing at the floaters there are other factors I feel are more critical to the success or failure of the bite.
Go for it! Full moon be damned!

My best trips have all been on a new moon. Worst on a full. I thought most of the party boats had stopped offering those long trips on a full moon. The moon phase means a great deal. Especially in Tuna fishing. I've been in your situation where none of the better trips fit my schedule. Sometimes you just have to hope for the best I guess.

Look at GPB's last full moon trip. Not too shabby.
