I have contemplated and read what to do on a deep drop. I'm still confused.

What hook sizes are we looking at? I have thought 8/0 for the meat fish and maybe 17/0 for the biggies?

Will 200 lb line be enough for the working end and do I use a short or long top shot?

Went to Bass Pro last night and came away with a package of red licorice.

I have lights, some good swivels. I am looking at some 3 way swivels. My lead is hopefully on the way. I ordered it and then they said they are going to start working on it this weekend. I'm scared.

Weights can get rather expensive. I have cut some rebar to size and just wrap with some plastic ties.I bring afew weights that I set up to release in case I hook a big one.

I'm fishing big 13/0 circles for AJ, grouper
60-100# braid w/ a 200# chafe leader should be good
In the past i've needed as much as 2# to hit bottom at the rigs
we normally go to

David ..... one could confuse the term "deep dropping" with the type of deep dropping done on these trips. It's really pretty straight forward "bottom fishing" done in depths that range from 200' TO 400'. True deep dropping (for Tiles, queens, etc) is done in much greater depths. That's not happening here.

As Brian says it's not uncommon to need a pair of 16 oz weights if there is a current brewing.Watch Brian Hefty on this trip and do as he does wink. If Hayden Hefty is going then watch him instead of Brian smile.

I'll be out there Wednesday stirring them up for you guys and will try to post up on conditions, etc.

Hope you guys kill 'em.
