O.K. Jon boats are neat, but the bilious green color just isn't my favorite. I keep reading about painting over powder-coat, and it sounds expensive, with two-part epoxy primer and top coat. I don't want to spend $1000 to paint a $700 boat. Do you think the Krylon Fusion Plastic Paint would work? I see lots of Jons painted Camo, so something must work.

Clean it and scuff it up with like some scotchbrite. Don't want the scratches too deep. Then paint over it. The powder paint will work as a primer.

It's as anything else. You get what you pay for. $50 in spray paint and it'll look good but you'll probably be repainting in a year or so. The process you've heard about is with using an epoxy based paint for the repaint. Don't know about the paint for plastics? I'd get some decent quality paint and spray it on. You can get the cheaper auto paints for $100 if you have the compressor and rig already. Tractor supply carries implement paint, fairly reasonable, it will look good, but you'll probably have tobrepaint in a year or two, sometimes budgets dictate what we can do

I read somewhere that a etching primer needed to be used. Don't know if it's true or not though.
