I have the Battery tender you posted. But I have the one rated for 24ah. It powers my Helix 7 and SuperNova's fine all day.

Inexpensive, Light, Long lasting (High amp hours).
Pick 2.
Battery tech really hasn't evolved much. If you're planning on deep cycling a battery, you're going to want a marine grade lead acid, which means HEAVY (duh, Pb).
You could do a NiCad, but for a good one that will recharge and give you good lifespan, you're going to fork out the $$$. Really, don't even consider Li-ion, if you deep cycle them, you kill them. They also run hot if you discharge them too quicky, and CAN burst into fire.
Honestly, you're already on a small boat (the PA), might as well get a good long charge holding deep cycle marine battery.

I'd recommend a LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) Battery in a 20-30 Ah rating, depending on the lights you plan on running and for how long. I would also verify the battery has BMS (Battery Management System) to provide over charge and over discharge protection. The LiFePO4 batteries have a good safety rating, they are more $ upfront but due to their higher life cycles and life expectancy cost should more tolerable. IMO, all the requirements you want in a battery don't really go with the word cheap.
If you go this route, be sure and get a charger for this type battery.

Thank yall for answering! I ended up going with the 24AH Battery Tender. So much for cheap! Thanks again for your responses!
