I built this boat out of all weather plywood, heavy fiberglass tape, and marine epoxy about 13 years ago. Today I tested it to make sure it floats and is water tight. The boat weighs about 56lbs. The max passenger capacity is conservatively about 300lbs. With this type of boat you sit on the bottom like a kayak to keep your center of gravity low, i.e. a styrofoam boogie board or similar "seat". I usually had pool noodles along the thwart/crossbeams. If you want it I'm throwing in an simple life preserver. I assume no liability and I'm offering the boat as is for use in calm, warm, protected waters.

Some more info...

The good:

14' boat is fairly fast. Less windage and lighter than most canoes. Can bring your dog or a smaller person with you. Can stand up in calm water if you are nimble. Very shallow draft, i.e. can skim along in 2 or 3 inches of water. There is some rocker to it(not perfectly flat) so it does okay in a mild current. The air chambers add some safety and storage. Ropes on each end and the thwarts make it easier to carry and to tie down.

The bad:

The boat is NOT meant to be a big water / open water boat. Calm bays, creeks, lazy rivers is what this boat is for. If you cannot safely swim back from where you are boating this is not the boat for you. If you lean to one side too much it will flood much like a canoe. I assume no liability for this boat. It is a homemade boat meant for casual use in calm, warm, protected water.

The pirogue flat hull doesn't perform as well as a more complex hull. When paddling fast, i.e. 4 or 5 mph, the hull tends to "dig" to one side or the other. By paddling on the side that the boat is listing to you can help keep the boat on track but personally I like a more complex hull design most of the time.

The ugly:

Nothing fancy here. White house paint or white spray paint is used as "sunscreen" to keep the epoxy from getting weakened by UV rays. I haven't painted the boat in awhile and it's no looker. You could paint it camo, etc, if you want. The wood is coated with epoxy which makes is mostly water proof. The boat has aged. Epoxy and fiberglass can be used to repair small cracks or holes although there are none now. I'm not sure if the boat has a month, a year, or 10 years left?

The price:
