A 33 y/o woman went missing yesterday off the Crystal Beach area. She saw her "4 y/o Son" struggling to swim and went after him. He made to shore, she didn't.
For you folks that are planning to come down and visit this area, please adhere to possible Rip Current Warnings...i.e., When RED FLAGS are flying. The beach waters have sand bars and drop offs. The current in these drop off areas can pull you under. Wear your PFD's, use some common sense.

Oh no.. that's sad man.

Also, if ever caught in the current.. don't try to swim against it. swim sideways to the current and it will eventually let up and you can swim to shore. If you fight it you'll wear yourself out.

The female's body was found yesterday morning on the waters edge about 2 miles from where she disappeared.

That's good advice of course, the problem is that reportedly there are only two places that fly red flags provided by the Chamber of Commerce and they are miles apart. Plenty of opportunities for folks to get in the water unaware of the current hazards. And of course there are no lifeguards on Bolivar beaches.

Sad story, repeated too many times.
