Anyone know a good guide near Destin Florida for next week? I will be on vacation there with my wife and we want to do some fishing.

Hey Korean Cowboy. You talking freshwater or salt? My buddy was there about 3 weeks ago and had the absolute best trip of his life. They were sight casting to huge schools of 30-45" reds. If that's what you are after I can get you the info. Just send me a text.

X2!!!! I am going out on another trip with him on 10-7... I have fished with a ton of charters and rank him among the top.

So we hired Capt. Josh Nelson out of Destin to take us fishing for Bull Reds and he did not disappoint! My wife didn't care to go offshore so we booked a short 12:00-4:00 Inshore charter.

We met him at noon (you didn't think I was gonna get up at 5 am on vacation did ya?) and hit the water. First stop was to get bait. He threw the cast-net a few times and loaded the baitwell with 5-8" croakers.

We went over to a channel near the Hwy 98 bridge and threw them out on a magnum C-rig with about 6 oz of lead. He had large spinning reels loaded with 65 # PowperPro. Tied to that was a leader of about 36" of 50# mono with a 5/0 circle hook. The tide was out-going and he told us that is what we need to get bit on that spot.

No sooner did it hit bottom that a NICE 30" Bull of about 10# took off with my wife's bait. She battled it to the boat and as soon it it came aboard my rod starts singing with a fish of similar size!

This action continues for about two hours as the tide is moving through. My wife catches one that is 43" long and another that is 40" long. Capt Josh says the 43 incher is about 35 pounds. I think that was a little optimistic but, Hey, he is a Guide, right? If you've never caught a bull red, they are pulling Mo-Sheens!! grin

We are back at the dock at 4 pm sipping a pina colada. It was a FANTASTIC trip that we would love to do again. We wound up catching 20 Reds with the smallest being the 10 pounders and probably five over 20 pounds! I would highly recommend Capt. Josh to anyone visiting the Destin area.
