New to saltwater fishing so take it easy on me!!
For the past few weekends, I have have been trying my hand at saltwater fishing. I have been going around the Bolivar/Anahuac area. Specifically, I have been to the Wildlife Refuge near Anahuac and Rollover pass. I have had my kids with me both times so I figured these were safe bets, as far as safety.
This weekend, I get to go alone. I haven't had too much luck at these two places. Can anyone suggest other places to try? I will be bank/wade fishing. Thanks in advance.

Ok - can you get me started on this? Where or how should I monitor the tides? What should I be looking for?

early tide movement. bait flushes out of the coves and bays with an out going tide and the fish move into the bay and coves(grass) with the incoming tide. the early and late tide works best for me. the middle full rush tide doesn't seem as good to me. JMO.

Anahuac side has been a little too fresh from the Trinity Bay Run off this spring / summer.. it's starting to get a little better.. but it's pretty ugly over there. The only fish in east bay have been on the deep reefs closest to the boliver shoreline.. So Salinity is one factor. Tides4 fishing has quite a few tide stations for Galveston. http://www.tides4fishing.com/us/texasProbably your best bet for wade or walk in for right now will be the north or south jetties. Why.. becuase jetties are big fish holding structures and with the bay as fresh as it's been, the jetties have been on fire this summer. In addition, you're coming up to the bull red run.. it's about 2 months out but you might start catching some early stragglers. Best is Sept - Nov. There's a lot more to consider. feel free to email me any of your questions, tobin@troutsupport.com
