Bring the kitchen sink! Be prepared food, water, and ice wise for at least 2 extra days. Let someone know what mile marker you are planning to fish and when you expect to be back. Spare tire in good working condition and extra fuel. 4x4 isn't a must but once your stuck your stuck.
Fishing wise: 4 combos that are capable of being yaked out 300 yards and can sustain a 200 yard run. I believe my buddy caught his sharks last week on sheapshead or big whiting. I like to use whole blue runners with the tail cut off. Lady fish, Jacks, and horse mullet are all good choices. Shrimp with fish bites will catch you a variety of fish out the surf.
Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.
