i like the chene type anchor for overall performance. mainly because it's the easiest to get unhooked in rock or shell.

Danforth works good all around for most areas.
But don't use it in the rocks like smooth move mentions. Chene or claw anchor is best for jetties or rocks like that.
For using a Danforth in shell, I always place the anchor on the mud side opposite the boat. Anchoring in shell is hard to do as the chines can't get down to have holding power...better to anchor in the mud just off any reef.
