I am in the process of buying a coastal boat and trying to decide where to keep it. I live in Austin and don't want to tow back and forth so I will store it at the coast. I'm trying to decide what town based on where I will fish most often. Based on distance from Austin the most convenient areas are Port Lavaca to Corpus.
Any thoughts from y'all on the best area to keep it and focus fishing? I'll primarily be fishing for trout, flounder and reds but it would be nice to hit jetties or the beach on some fair weather days.
I'll be in a boat that runs reasonably shallow but not super skinny. Possibly a Gulf Coast.

From Rockport you can go "north" and fish all the bays from Rockport to Port O'Conner or you can make a trip "south" and fish Corpus Christi Bay to Baffin Bay or ....
... you can just hang out in the Rockport bay system and decide which bay you want to fish: Copano Bay, Port Bay, Mission Bay, St. Charles Bay, Dunham Bay, Carlos Bay, Redfish Bay, Mesquite Bay or Aransas Bay all from the same launch location.
