I was reading through a saltwater fishing magazine and read that a yellow bucktail jig catches a lot of fish in different places. Didn't know that. I found something interesting on the web:
As a testament to the bucktail jig’s effectiveness, consider this fact. Back in World War II, the U.S. Navy packed a bucktail jig and handline into survival kits for sailors and pilots to catch fish in an emergency. To this day, the jig and handline is used as survival equipment by Navy Seals
I would like to purchase a few jigs. There are TONS of options. I fish mainly the surf in Galveston. Can anyone suggest a few go-to colors and possibly brands to stock my tackle box? Or any other information that would be helpful?
It was a different world when we were boys and girls....

I use a solid white jig with a red thread body. You can also add a gulp mullet trailer if you like. They work for me...
