Texas Fishing Forum--The Best Place in Texas to Talk Fishing Well, maybe. It depends on your interest and whether the Forum maps into it. These days I often awaken to the goal Swing for the fence. Followed by the reflective question Did I hit a home run? Strange to some I suppose. My passion though is imparting distance to casting. I cannot afford a boat, so I wade fish, but some waters in Texas I fish do not allow wading, so I bank fish. A home run in casting distance? 300-yards is the world record. Hmm
another time. My current chapter is beach casting with long rods, i.e. 11-feet or greater. Most online information on this topic is found in the United Kingdom and Australia websites and YouTube. There is a sprinkling of info regional to the USANortheast, Northwest, California and North Carolinawhile www.tx-sharkfishing.com has helpful handbooks on surf fishing in Texas. Surprising the limited discussion considering the proximity of Texas to saltwater. Also surprising is the poor local availability of the specialized equipment needed for, and to support, surf casting with long rods. I ended up buying from shops in the UK; yes, shipping charges are expensive and inability to handle before buying is problematic. The Texas Fishing Forum maps saltwater fishing into three subject areas: 1) Inshore Fishing, 2) Offshore Fishing, and 3) Saltwater Reports. Inshore Fishing in the Forum includes surf, jetties and piers, wading, and nearshore boatingall based on fishing access points. It contains discussions on long distance casting using a cannon, drone or kayak to place the bait a long distance from the beach. But it generally lacks discussion on surf casting and fishing. What basis do you use to buy your saltwater fishing equipment? Inshore or offshore? Surf or pier? Jetty or wading? Kayak or boat? Surely you recognize equipment is specialized for each approach and fish targeted. Should the Texas Fishing Forum remap its Inshore definition to better fit your style and preferences for saltwater fishing? I say yes, as it does not meet my interests presently and it does not align well with the market.

Bob, There are specialized surf groups in TX, TFF is a DFW based organization and if you look at the majority of the members they are around that part of the world.
If you're looking for more kindred spirits, go to 2coolfishing, I think you can find what you're looking for. Houston based saltwater centered fishing site.

Yes, I am aware of the groups. The question I posed to the Forum is whether you are satisfied with the current definition of Inshore within the Forum. I find it to be too broad, and wish it to be subdivided to better align with the way people fish and equipment available on the market.

Well, get with one of the head guys and ask for it. Their income is derived from sponsors and ad money, the more eyeballs on the site the more they make.

I understand where you are coming from Bob.
It'd be cool to have a Forum for "Wade Fishing" - a page for wade anglers without a boat to share tips.

The saltwater forums here are not that busy. You don't need another subforum. Just post what you want.
I hate photobucket.

Actually this board has more long rodders than 2cool. Corpus Fishing is the other board that has a few long rodders. TKF has a beyond the breakers section.. but they use kayaks to get the baits out there or fish nearshore rigs.
2cool is mostly inshore wading.

When I think inshore fishing, wading is one of the first things that comes to mind. Our inshore forum is not super busy. If you have your preferences set to show 25 topics per page, the oldest topic on the first page goes back to 6/27/18. If we get to the point that the entire first page is made up of topics from the same day, then it might make sense to break the section down further to say wade fishing, surf fishing, etc. As it is now, I don't see the need to dilute the section.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Have you tried Breakaway in Corpus? http://www.breakawaytackleusa.com/
