Haven't been to the coast in a few weeks. Does anyone caught anything or seen people catch anything on the Galveston fishing pier or 61st? I hope to make it down there in next few weeks.

Went down 2 weeks ago and fished off the rocks leading to the 61st street pier. Caught one 26" Red. I never can predict the bite. Go and have fun. The 91st street pier is further out in the water and has a nice restaurant to eat at as well. The public access area along 61st Street along the bayou is blocked while they do repairs and improvements, otherwise that might be a good place or even SeaWolf park

Ok thanks, I went to galveston fishing pier back in November and caught a 20lb black drum. Then a few weeks ago I went to sea wolf and they were catching a lot of bull reds and big drum with the occasional sheephead and flounder.

There should be more flounder showing up in mid February. Thats when they start coming back in. There is always some that stay in though.

January is a pretty good time to catch pompano and sheeps heads. Use a dead shrimp in the first gut for the pompano and for the sheepies use hermit crabs around pilings and rocks.

I've always heard about pier cams but have never had a chance to check them out.

That's the coolest thing! I can sit here at night, pretending to work and watch people fishing.

I may go down their next weekend, hopefully I can get something.
