We will be heading to Galveston for the first time over Labor Day. I was hoping to get a guide one day and kayak the next. If anyone knows of a guide available that weekend or if anyone wants to split a trip to cut down the costs let me know!

I'm also open to any advice anyone might have for kayak locations or pier fishing. I've never been saltwater fishing so I have no idea what to expect or what sort of tackle or baits I need to get together before we head down! We will be staying over by Moody Gardens off the offat Bayou and don't really care what we catch, just want to catch something! I've been trying to research it but there is a lot of different suggestions out there and I always end up getting sidetracked watching videos of people reeling in monster fish!

Well, if the wind continues to lay and be slightly north they are catching a lot of trout in the surf in the first an second gut. Use any surface lure that walks the dog like a bone zara spook or something like that.

Kayaking.. there is a cove near Galveston Island state park called Dana's cove. Fish shallow grass flats for redfish and the drop off for trout. Bone zara spook, gold spoon, rat tail soft plastics like bass assasins or zoom flukes on a 1.8th oz head.
