Just financed a vehicle in January and the CU gave me my Experian Score at that time. I have a monitoring service with Experian that offers their FICO/Experian score, which is about 50points higher currently than the CU score back in January. My score has gone up I know, about 20-30 points since then according to a MyFICO. What is your feeling regarding scores that lenders see versus this Experian/FICO score?

The so called credit score that Experian provides with their paid service is not your FICO score that lenders use. It is a magical made up score that makes your credit score look better that it really is. I wish they would be prohibited from marketing this bogus "credit score".

If you want to track your real FICO score without charge, Discover Credit Card lists your FICO score with your monthly bill.

If anyone fully understand the whole credit score game please explain it to us. We have lenders that will use one of all three of the bureaus. What we know is that you can pull several Experian, Trans Unions or Equifax from different sources and all have different scores. Some bureau services have different filters and will either enhance or lower scores with them. Some services are "auto enhanced" others not. Those types seem to give more emphasis on prior auto loans both positive or negative.
Here is what we know....... The score is one small part of an approval. Even though the numbers are always different, the information on the bureau is generally the same. Lenders will normally pull one bureau and live or die with it. Some pull the bureau based on zip code, others pull the same one no matter where people live.
It does not seem like the "free" credit checks are really what lenders see. But when you think of it, there has to be an angle to what they are doing. Why else would someone provide a free service unless there is a string attached to it.
Let us know how we can help.
Thank you,
Ken
