Could have been a horrible accident, he steps on the rods with both feet where the hook keepers are with no shoes on. What would have happened if he had gotten two or three hooks from different lures stuck in his feet and went in the water with all those rods tangled together? This nearly happened to me a long time ago, I still have night mares about it. I was in 25ft of water. Just a thought about wearing shoes in the boat, glad you are ok.

Until getting on this site and seeing all of the "How To" videos, I have never seen so many people fishing without shoes on. What is with that? And their cluttered deck with all of the poles....?

That is exactly why I wear shoes on the boat. I won't even do flip-flops. I cringe at the thought of a worst case scenario as you described. The one time I went out, my boat hung up as I was trying to get out of timber via the TM with a storm over-taking us. I hit a rotted off trunk. The bruising was so bad the weekend trip ended right then, and I did not fully heal for weeks.
