I was driving home from work in the Irving area. This Falcon swooped in front of my car and knocked a pigeon out of the air. I was able to get a couple videos. It was to me a once in a life time shot. Wish I had more than just my phone to take video with.

Nice video!

We have the occasional eagle out here on Lake Athens. One was out hunting the other day and our neighbor called to tell us to check it out.

Late last winter/early spring, I was fishing off a boat house dock a few doors down (NW corner of Lake Athens), water was shallow at around 3 or 4 feet. I was looking out about 90 degrees away from something sort of entering my peripheral vision off to my left. It made a huge splash. My first thought was maybe a neighbor's labrador retriever had jumped in the water. No, it was an Osprey, brown body with some white in the breast/head areas. Powerful! After it splashed down, my eyes saw it in the water and it took only 3 or 4 big flaps of its wings to break out of the water. It had about a 2 lbs. bass in its grasp adding to its resistance. It flew straight down our cove to the south, then circled around to a tall tree with some dead branches way up high just across from my home, sat there for a very long time, then eventually started eating the bass.

Very cool! Yes, it sort of startled me when it hit the water. I wish I had it on video. It occurred about 25 feet away from me.

Brad

After researching, I'm not sure its a Falcon. When I saw it, I was sure it was a Falcon. It was definitely much smaller than a Red Tail Hawk.

It is a Cooper's Hawk.

Super cool video!!!!! Yep, it's a coop. They are really abundant right now. Some are passing through in migration and some will over winter in Texas.

Thanks. I did come across a photo last night of a Coopers Hawk that I thought might be it. Thanks for helping out.
