Nice catch, good shot, camera angle and sun/shadows, very nice!

Tips? Just one, and I'm learning it now since I just started bass fishing 2 years ago. Do plenty of reading/researching, or asking about the best baits to use for "all conditions." That way, you will narrow down your spending for "non" necessary baits. Of course, once you are in a store with a fishing section, sometimes you can't help yourself when you see something new, that looks cool, and has a pleasingly low price, but they do add up!

Welcome! IN65

Since I created this, I've learned of several spots to bank fish and met several people that have taught me 90 % of all I know!!

My best advice for fishing around "the city" is to just find any ponds/drainage ditches/etc. with water. 99% of the time, they will have bass of some size- if you're lucky they could be hogs. I'm in Richardson, which is just above Dallas. If you want sandbass, crappie, etc. there are several big lakes above Dallas that provide good fishing as well.

Also put some time into your spots. For example, I don't have a car- so I take the bus to a nearby neighborhood pond that sees a LOT of pressure, there's almost always someone fishing and on the weekends there can be groups of 10 around this pond. However, to fight the pressure I started going at night, twice a week, almost every week, trying every tactic under the sun, and simply sticking with what works- I have landed bass up to 5-6 lbs from this neighborhood pond as a result, where others have completely skunked out.

Good luck, and welcome to TX cool if you're looking for a partner or fishing buds, you might want to make a post in the partner finder section at the bottom of the forum.

Nice bass! I have never fished in the Arlington area, but almost all cities in DFW have scores of local parks with ponds in them, and almost all of them have hungry fish in them. Just get out there and explore and you never know what you will find.

Here's a tip that works well for me at ponds "in the city".

Downsize. So many of the baits that you see being used on big lakes are simply too big for most pond fish. If you want to get your confidence up and get numbers, downsize. I rarely throw anything over 1/4oz of anything when fishing ponds. Jigs, crankbaits, swim jigs... nothing more than 1/4 oz. Some people will tell you won't catch as big of bass and I'll call BS on that every day. Some of my biggest bass have all come on smaller baits.

I live up in Allen. There's a ton of places to fish around me. I've caught a 4+ at almost each pond using nothing bigger than 1/4oz baits.

I have always loved the top water bite. So grab when you are not paying attention and then boom, scares the [censored] out of you
