Try catching those Carp. They are some super fighters! Also keep in mind that some creeks may not be suitable for Crappie or White Bass depending where they are located and the water conditions. Try to target what fish that are there. Just my two cents. Side Note: Nice fish! Good job on finding some!

Actually it looks to me like you took the info and research and the tff post to good inspiration and went on a good hike and was productive! Maybe not how you wanted but to me I think you had a good day!! One thing I have learned following all the craziness everyone talks about on here is if you don't put yourself out there you will never learn! In my opinion your research did pay off! You saw what to target and while it didn't produce what you wanted it did produce fish! Your on the right track! Right now these creeks are wierd. I have found a lot of creeks right now are dead and low or flooded and dead. It's a wierd season very hit and miss. At least you made up by hitting the dam as they have produced all over north Texas! I still think we are a touch early for the spawn but am thinking it will really pick up with this warm up this weekend! Till then keep doing exactly what your doing and it will pay off in better ways! A line in the water will always be better than your hand on a mouse!

Creek fishing for crappie and sandbass is something that your not going to go out on your first trip and tear them up. It takes several trips to figure them out. It took me numerous trips learning the creeks I fish before I even got a bite. Don't give up and one thing I can say is that location is everything.

The track pics look to be a bobcat. Don't worry much about them. Often if not always, they'll catch your scent and do all they can to avoid you. If you see one, respect it's space and stay away. If its starts to make threats, make yourself look big as possible and make lots of noise. A few years ago, I was bank fishing in a creek cove (INSIDE Houston city limits). It was nice and quiet. I turn my head to the left, and a bobcat was there no more than 30 feet from me. I didn't even hear it walk in. Surprisingly, he was ignoring me the whole time. I think he stalking the bank for any perch to swim by and him to snatch up. He was gone within 2-3 minutes. I wish I could've taken a pic. It was pretty cool.
But like others have said, that would be a memorable trip.

@Jasoniam- Thanks for the motivation man, honestly I'd rather be out there scouting around wetting a line than sitting on my rear watching tv bored at home! Hopefully you're right about them producing in a few weeks, guess we're just going to have to wait and see!

The paw prints did seem fresh as well. As you can see in the second paw picture I noticed that the mud was pressed down to the same degree as my foot print. Probably passed 30 min to an hour before I did. Glad to hear that they are bothered by human scent!
