I've lived in DFW for about 5 years now and now I'm starting to hit fishing hard again. What lake would be my best bet for some decent to big Blue and Flathead catfish. I'm located in Euless and anything within an hour I'm game to try.

If you're looking for something closer in the city... try fishing the Elm Fork off 635/Luna/Roya lane. Caught this one off frozen shad under a bobber in about 4ft of water Plenty of Channels & Blues

Sounds great. Fresh fish #1. Stay safe and hope Harvey doesn't impact y'all. We're just receiving some outer bands at this time.

Big catfish are caught from the bank in at least 2 places in Lake Mineral Wells. 1. Cast from the bank on either side of the boat ramp towards the island. 2. The camping area has a few spots which access the deep water and giant catfish are routinely caught by setting out rods at night. The down side is you have to pay a fee for a camp site.
In either case make sure your rods are well anchored. I have seen some expensive rigs lost because the rod holders were pulled out. If you plan to stay overnight there is a small extra charge. Since it is a state park the usual restrictions apply.(No trot lines,no jugs.) It is a great little lake for fishing for crappie or catfish.
