Hey there, looking for ideas for a simple 2-3 day staycation. Main needs/wants will be:

Accommodations for 6 (2 adults, 4 kids) so a cabin is probably best.
Access to fishing from a stream or lake or pond. Just someplace kid friendly so they can catch perch, catfish or carp.
Nearby hiking. Would rather just leave from the cabin and hit a trail.
Within a 3-4 hour drive from McKinney.

Just trying to think of somewhere different. This year we have been to Broken Bow/Beavers Bend, Turner Falls and the Texas Coast.

Palo Duro Canyon? I'm not sure about the fishing...

Caddo Lake?

I wrote out something about Beavers Bend and then saw you already had that. Is Ray Roberts state park too close to home? The white bass are hitting on top around the shorelines in the early am.

Possum Kingsom lake? Maybe stay at Scenic Cove. There are some hiking trails and beautiful lake views. The cove has some super clear water and the lake has some good fishing too. About 3 hours west of DFW. I'm thinking you may have to go to another spot on the lake for a cabin. But everything else is there.

Wildcatter Ranch. It's out by Possum Kingdom Lake. The cabins are really nice, there's a ton of hiking right out the door, plus a ton of other cool stuff (skeet shooting, horseback riding, etc.). The steakhouse they have there is pretty darn good as well (the bone in ribeye is incredible).
