Spent a beautiful short afternoon on Lake Somerville. Water had dropped 2+ feet since last trip. Some of favorite landmarks were almost starting to reemerge so lake didn't seem so foreign. Tried usual spots with nothing then on a whim went to my favorite cormorant roost tree. We caught 7 nice ones including a 4#, sorry no pics. Broke off 3 lines it started immediately and was wild for about an hour then slowed down. Tried 4 other similar trees w plenty of birds on them and didn't get a single bite :-( Every time I think that I am beginning to understand catfish I almost immediately discover that I really don't have any idea what's going on down there. Water depth the same, who knows. Wind shifted but hard to believe they just shut down. Oh well, glad we caught some nice winter catfish and had a nice day on the water.
