My buddy showed me a new spot today. I threw back maybe 15plus smaller ones. The biggest was 1.21lb. Great day today.

Thanks. I would have written more, but I was posting from my phone. We fishied with jigs and minnows. I think that minnows put one of the small ones on the stringer but thats it. My buddy showed me a new spot that I will be frequenting a few times this year for sure...I think that if we had a boat and fish finder... we would have killed yesterday. Tha only thing is that its a walk and not much of a trail, just gotta know where your going... Ill just say OLD ALTON, thats all. We were fishing around 8ft. deep with green; green/black; avacado; pink/black. The gig ones are starting to come up river!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hey DRF, how's the water level down there? I got a new canoe for Christmas and always intended to launch it down at old Alton but wasn't very optimistic with the lack of rain. And nice stringer you got there too.

Well, I didnt walk the river, so not too certain about all of it. I know in one spot was only about 5 or less. I think if you put in at the bridge you might be ok... If not there, the first bend past the rock cliff, might be a good spot to drop in if you dont mind the walk.

And nice stringer you got there too. It's a climb but you can put in there. I drove by this weekend and took a look. You could put in at the bridge and go down river but not up.

Can I ask what time of day you were fishing? I'm trying to learn enough about crappie fishing to put my son on some. He's aching to catch and eat some!
