OK, I'm week late posting this, but this is too good of an opportunity not to post it (even if it is late).

Each October the Dallas Fly Fishers sponsor a series of fly tying classes on Tuesday evenings starting about 6:00 pm at the Allen Cabela's on Hwy 75. The details are below, but basically, multiple fly tying instructors are available and you go to whichever table and tyer interests you and you sit down and tie with them. Then you can move to another table and learn something else. If you have your own tools, you can bring them or DFF will provide some for you to use. All materials, hooks, etc, are provided, but they are asking for the participants to help cover the material costs.

If you are interested in starting to tie, want to become a better tyer, or just want to meet more people with an obsession for lashing feathers to hooks, this is an excellent opportunity. All skill levels are welcome from beginning to advanced.

All you have to do it just show up Tuesday night at the Allen Cabela's meeting room near the cash registers.

Here are more details:

Hello all club members and visitors, this is a reminder that the series of 4 fly tying lessons start this week at Cabela's in Allen on Tuesday, October 11. We will set up at 6 pm and hope to be tying by 6:30, but you can arrive late at any time. The class room will be set up with tables and instructors around the perimeter of the room, with students free to move from table to table to tie with any instructor during the evening. The club provides all equipment and materials, but you can. bring your own equipment if you like. We have instructors to help the beginners get started, so do not feel intimidated about not knowing anything. Each instructor will offer one or more patterns for the students to tie. The first night we will focus on beginners and intermediate tiers. Classes on Oct. 18, 25, and Nov. 1 will continue to tie beginner patterns and well as more advanced flies. You do not have to come to all 4 sessions, but come to one or as many as you can. This class is a lot of fun. We will swap stories on the use of different patterns for all fishing from blue gills to salt water fish. Visitors can come and watch if they like. There is a request for $5 per student per session. The money is used to reimburse instructors and the club for the cost of equipment and materials.

Very nice!

Anyone looking to get into tying, this would be an excellent opportunity to get sagacious advice on tools, vises (as well as vices) etc. etc.

Here's another invitation to come join us Tuesday evening.

I will be tying some foam hopper patterns this week. So, come join me if you like to learn about tying with foam or just want to learn some quick, durable, and effective hopper patterns. And there will be other options available, last week you could learn anything from a bass fly, to a trout fly, to a salmon fly.

Here are some of the patterns that I'll help you to tie.
