Looking for some advice and education. What determines thick or thin? Which do you use more often? What brands of glue due you prefer? What light brands do you?
Thanks!

Ive used Solarez and loon. I cant say Ive noticed a big difference. I like the thin only because I like just the minimal amount of UV cure. Its harder to get a tiny amount of thick.

I use UV only as a very thin coating to secure thread wraps of as a thin back to order fibers. I havent liked it as a thick head like one might make with epoxy.

Lights Ive used are ones. two, Ive picked up off Amazon or just sunlight. The lights are a little quicker than sunshine.

Sometimes, a thicker layer of UV cures to a rubber or silicone like texture. Im not sure why that happens. Its not desirable and tends to peel off the fly and is pretty useless.

Thick versus thin for me depends on the application. For setting heads of flies, securing eyes, and thread wraps I really like Loon Flow. It penetrates like head cement or superglue but you can instantly dry it with a UV light. This is what I use 90% of the time.

For things like covering a fish skull living eye to make sure it doesn't peel off, I'll use Loon's Thin resin which is slightly thicker. It's also amazing to use for on the spot wader repairs.

I really only use the thick resin if I need something to stay right in place and not move anywhere for example if I'm trying to create a fish skull like head on a fly.

I like Loon resin the best because I think it cures with the least odor and tack, but that doesn't meant that it's odor free or tack free like they claim. I still won't use any resin on my carp flies because of my paranoia and resort to two whip finishes on those flies.

I've noticed the same thing, fully curing thick resins with just a bench light is tough no matter how powerful it is. Better to cure with the light and then leave it out in the sun to fully finish.

One more tip I forgot to add, if you still have issues with tack on a resin after curing, adding a light coat of Hard as Hull or Hard as Nails helps make things permanent.
