When it comes to Dubbing, I've bought some and made some. They will all work, but I like piddling around to see what I can come up with. Using a coffee grinder, but I'm thinking of buying a blending board, just because. You can never get too many toys in this craft.

After playing around with different brands of yarn, I find I like Red Heart the best. It just seems to be softer and not get "pills" when I blend it.

I'm on a dubbing kick at the moment. I've got about 8 different base colors I'm playing with.

Damsel's

I've been mixing this and a darker blue together. To make these.

If ya' like to "blend your own", then head off to the local carpet store and pick up a few carpet patch samples (I prefer the "tri-loped" Antron samples).. Then use a pair of cheap shears, a coffee grinder, and you're in business...

What ya' don't have coffee grinder... No sweat. Pull out your blender; add the cut carpet fibers* (plus any furs that you'd like to add); fill about 1/3 to half of the blender container with H2O; and then add a drop of dish washing liquid soap (Dawn or what ever)... Blend for 30 seconds... Drain through a strainer and rinse under the tap. Blot dry with a an old towel or just us use a few paper towels, and then let air dry a bit... Great free dubbing...

* Using this method, I like to break up the fibers before blending.

Thanks for the tip, I was getting balls of yarn and thought I lost my touch when this started happening....looks like it's certain brands cause it.
