Gave the shad imitations another try.

The light blue didn't show up as well as I had hoped so I tried a darker blue. And I accidentally put the spot towards the belly instead of the back.

The dark blue drowned out the dark spot. I think I like the light blue best. I built up the bellies with yarn and added the white crystal Antron for a little more belly swell. The 2 main colors are weaved and the dark spot is just about a 1" piece of dark chenille that I tied in then cut flush with the body. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.

I got some real nice underspins from REDGUN the other day and finally had a chance to tie a few up. I'm really diggin these things and he has done a real quality job on them. Here's my first 2 to tie up.

Thanks again Mark! Now all I gotta do is rip some lips with em! I'll try to take some pics when I do

You did excellent matching that shad. Either blue will work. If you find some light purple, that will also work.
I'd like to find some chenille that had a mix of light blue and purple. Looking at a shad in the sun light, you can see those iridescent blue and purple colors.

Yes I know exactly what your talking about. That would be a cool chenille. The rainbow crystal that crazy angler carries is the closest thing I can think of of the irredecsencse that your talking about. But I bet a light blue/purple chenille would be killer

Real nice, I am the lazy sort because on my jigs I do these jigs in shad grey and use a dye pen to color like I want them On the tail its a mix of grey and yellow which I call dirty yellow.

Thanks Larry! I thought about using a marker or something but I wanted to test my tying skills, and I didn't have anything better to do lol. Do you mind posting a pic of yours? I love looking at other people's jigs and getting ideas.

I tied a few of these up with bucktail. Thought the "fatter" tail might slow the fall a little. We did pretty good on them yesterday. thumb

That looks nice! I like that chenille. I tried to order some in size 10 from Crazy Angler but he doesn't carry it in size 10. Definitely looks like fish food thumb
