I know my stash is pretty weak, compared to some of you Maestros. It's growing, Lil at a time. Really like the pink pearl & pepper pearl.

Im digging those colors! You might look into building a rack that you can hang your freshly painted jigs on, then when you're ready to cure in the toaster, secure the jigs & flip the rack over so any excess powder won't leave a "parrot nose" on the jig head. This is mine. 2 aluminum plates drilled for all thread rods with nuts & wing nuts on the outside & oversized nuts & washers between the plates. With 7 rods I can cure as many as 98 jigs. This picture shows 1 jig "clamped" in head up.

I've seen these racks many times but I don't use them. I also don't have the parrot nose problem on any paints (but one clear coat and one white I used). I ultimately found alternative paints (different brands) that weren't so thin and never looked back? I can paint 120-140 at one time, baked and all in less than 1 hour: I wonder if a lighter paint is mandating the rack? Might tinker around with a few different brands of paint as I imagine clamping 90+ jigs could be cumbersome and extremely time consuming? Pepop - how long does it take you to paint and cure with that contraption (splendid ingenuity, by the way)?

Man Vern I had no idea you were using a contraption like that to bake your jigs! If I am doing under 100 I just hang then in a toaster oven on the rack that came with the oven. Now if I have a lot like I use to then I took some of the wire trash guards made for gutters and cut and reshaped them to hang jig head on. In the big oven I can use 3 of these cut gutter guards on a cookie sheet and bake something like 110 -130 at a time.
My only trouble with the parrot nose as you guys call it, was when I first started a long time ago and that was more with Black than any other color. I kept working on my counting method using the alcohol burner until I never have any real problems. I found with the black I had that I needed to not have it in flame as long and quicken my dip/swish and no more troubles like that which I call bullet head! I probably had maybe 5 jig heads in all that ever did that! Is also why I believe in the alcohol burner over any other method of heating!

Good idea Vern.
Jerry T, you are correct Sir. Even borrow some of my girls nail polish, trying to customize jigheads.
Skip, I have thought about buying an alcohol burner. What kind of alcohol do you use in them?
I'd Tack That!!

There is a lot of ways to cure the heads but to me the best way is low heat. I cook them at about 340 degree for about 1/2 hour. All but pearl colors and I do them at about 320 for 1/4 hour. I do use a top coat and never had any trouble with the paint. The main thing is keep the paint well mixed to not get to much on it. With candy colors it is best to use a base coat to get the color to come out as it should be.

Welcome to the addiction Mag, and nice paint. Don't get hung up on the drip, the crappie don't care. But it's all about heat control!

Denatured alcohol from Lowe's in the paint dept works just fine in the alcohol burner.

Also I bought my burner from Barlow's and have bought several other along the way, but when first one got where I wanted another I didn't use any of the ones I bought and went back to Barlow's to get another one from them!I like the wick size and the whole thing is kind of cheap, but it's what I like to use. I have a Stainless one, but it has a smaller wick and that made a big difference in time needed in flame so don't use it. Skip
