These jig heads are apparently hard to find, I am looking for a older friend of mine who is paying too much for them, I need to fine these jig heads with the tiny hooks in them. I'm not sure what size hook is in there but any help would be greatly appreciated I think they are 1/16th
I know the TFF can at least point me in the right direction.

Thanks for any and all help fellas.

move your camera back to get a better focus and put something of well known size in the pic for us to get a good size perspective maybe a dime .

Sorry, I don't know anyone doing jig hooks like that. But a nice jig.

Those are Bob Young Jigs. Bob passed away a few years ago. They were out of production for a while, but I believe someone in Florida is selling them again. And you are correct, they are pretty spendy.

My jig heads are similar, but different. I believe Bob used a #8 and I use an #6. I can tie just about any color combo your friend wants.

Kenny, I went over on Facebook and checked out a few of your jigs, you do a great job.
Sorry to hear about Bob Young, I did not know him, But sure knew of him as a jig man.
You guys who have been tying just a few years, if you look at the jig here you will see it has a lot of lead on a small hook. When you have this the head has to be in a shape where went the line is pulled its not in the way. Looks like maybe he used a long number 8 hook but still had to hand make the head. If not done this way when the line is pulled the lead will help push the hook out of the fish's mouth and no hook set. It works the same way on number 4 hooks with 1/8, 3/8, and 1/4 of lead. Some head shapes can be used but not all.

Those are for sure Bobs jigs. My son mowed Bobs yard and Bob paid him with Jigs. My son stashed them for several years. Several months ago I found the stash. Three boxes of 300-500 jigs Bob had given to him. Bob Young was a kind man and could make a mean jig.

As always the TFF comes through. You guys are such a wealth of knowledge, I thank you very my ch for your responses. Very sorry to hear about Bobs passing.

My friend said he was paying 1.25$ per jig, so yeah that's high. My friend has recently allowed my to use his boat house to fish for crappie and I was just wanting to suprise him with a batch of his favorite jigs. I used to the crappie jigs, though I never really got passed the novice level before I sold my tying stuff. I am going to be getting back into it now that I have a place to crappie fish.

Aggie Kenny I may end up just getting some of your jigs you said are similar, but I know my buddy will want the closest thing possible. Do you have any suggestions as to how I might figure out who exactly is selling the heads in FL?

$1.25 isn't out of line for a hand tied jig, but I can save you a little. Jim Porter in Florida. Jimporter.net.

personally I still don't think that head makes much difference at all and I know the jigs I tied like this do very well. I have made them with round heads and also with a minnow head and with larger hooks. No one has come back and said they didn't catch fish just like these little hook jigs! I have even made for for a few guys using a 1/8 Oz minnow head and they like them well enough to come back for more.

So it's not the head and hook that makes it very good, it's the way it's tied and colors which the only famous color is the Gray Ghost!

All this is just my opinion, but I also know some guys are really hung up on that head and hook size, but it's not necessary IMHO! Also the hook is either a #8 or #6 and I lean to #8 because of what some of the guys that were hung up on small hooks and I even have some heads with a #8 in them just for that, but rare to use them even with guys wanting the Gray Ghost. One of the guys that got the big 1/8 size from me came back and said the big one was fishing way better than the little ones he had already. Since I just got that feedback late last week, it's fresh in my mind. Also see no reason at all they charge as much as they do for the jigs and I know what they get for them. I don't make any jigs that sell that high except for my Roadrunners! I sell Gray Ghost like I do them for $3.95 for a 4 pack! You tell me what's right!
