I found a better idea instead of buying floats make them out of pool noodles cut them to the size you want and poke a hole through the sides and you got cheap floats instead. Paying around 2 bucks floats that size just pay around 1 buck and get around this many

That looks good. Might use a drop of super glue so it wont slide after a soak.

You can make floats out of anything that floats. That what I try to tell people, but they always come buying from me because they don't want to make them. My dad used to whittle down floats out of poplar and cedar. That's where I got my design. I started making my own floats first, then I started selling them. I'm amazed people don't use bamboo since it's hollow inside and floats well. You be surprised at how people can't imagine something that doesn't exist like what you did here. There are so many ways to make floats. It's just like rod building or fly tying, but not to many people make their own. If you wanted to get fancy, just add a piece of wood dowel and screw in a eye screw from home depot. #216 should do it. Basically scale down a noddle jug. The same principle I teach all the time place the buoyant material at the center of the stem and you'll have a balanced, sensitive float, but no one actually goes out and does it.
