Hello Fellas,

First time posting on the forum and not from around this area. I relocated from West Texas to the Grapevine area and I am interested in doing some catfishing for a little 4th of July fish fry. I have fished Grapevine Lake and Denton Creek some this spring for sandies and bass but have yet to do any catfishing. I have a boat here but also enjoy the solitude of the river on the weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions for catfish either on Lake Grapevine or on one of the creeks either feeding the lake or in the surrounding area? I am willing to hike in. Also, would y'all suggest a specific punch bait or trying to snag some live/cut bait with a cast net? I would appreciate any tips and pointers. Thanks!

I usually catch my shad right before dawn or around 9 or 10 pm around boat ramp or coves. or if you have a boat try around the dock lights. I don't really fish Grapevine but do ok on Lewisville at around 20 to 25 foot of water when i get away from the dang crappie!!... good luck thumb

I think the channel cats are up shallow right now. Find some flooded vegetation in 2-4 fow and you should find some.

I've only ever bank fished grapevine so I don't have any specifics to offer. But if you're willing to drive to ray hubbard, u can tell you exactly where to go

Denton creek right off of hwy 377 used to have some good bank fishing with worms west side of the bridge.
Below the dam at Louisville also used to be good on shad gizzards.
I used to do good on GV off the rocks at north end of the dam on blood bait.
This is 25 to 30 years ago so no guarantee now.
Lot of gar right now in the lakes at mouth of creeks. I can guarantee this:)

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
