I missed old Twok fishin and finally had 3 days off, so I convinced the family to drive 180 miles one way to camp and fish at my old fishing hole. We got to Wind point park very late in afternoon, then big thunder storm hit all night...

From checking weather i knew wind would be changing constantly, not good weather for bank fishing, but there were some calm periods in between and i had caught a few fish on glassy water at old twok around this time of the year...

We fished one full day the day after the storm. The wife and i drove down to our favorite spot at the SRA boat ramp by the dam... fished 7 to 10am only managed to hook one skinny whitebass, so I did as I always did at that particular spot... grabed my lite tackle and casting artificial lures around. managed to hook a 5lb lmb for dinner. Then it was time to head to Emory to grab some pizza for lunch... back at camp Wind Point i caught one 20" catfish and two good hybrids and that was it for the day.

Got up very early in the morning and fished, strangely not a single bite all morning unti about 830am when my 10yo son joined me and he caught two small hybrids, 19" and 21", respectively. That brighten his morning for sure.

In all we caught six scalely fish to on small catfish. This never happened to us b4 and the 20" catfish is tiny compare to the 21" hybrid. I never bothered to compare the sizes b4 because always caught plenty of bigger catfish than scalely ones... but this fishing trip realy got me noticing...

Anyhoo, for nostalgia and tranquility of ole twok beauty and charms, it is still a great fishing lake, but ole Twok doesnt seem to fish like the catfish capital of texas anymore... Something is happening to the lake, if it were just the flood than the lake will be even better in years to come ( lets hope its not a man made issue)... but skinny whitebass and skinny 20" catfish are worse fishing lake than Lavon. But hey, the hybrids are still fat... so far.

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

I'm thinking Twok is a lot like Lavon. About a month behind schedule. I'll bet it will pick up in a couple more weeks. My home Lake Lavon has exploded with baitfish this year and the fish are not having any trouble feeding, which means trouble for us fishermen. My 2 cents.
