I am going to try out Canyon Lake for some cats in the morning. Anyone able to share any advice? Where, what bait, etc.
Also, what is your favorite way to rig your poles for punch bait and live bait?

I have not fished for cats on Canyon in a while, but if you're setup for it, I would drift fish. For bait get some chicken breast, its just easy and they'll eat it. Good luck!

Hey man, I just got back from canyon about 1 week ago and I will tell you 1 place where I was catching cats. If you act like your heading to boat ramp 7, there's a bridge that goes over a creek called Tom's creek. If you take your car or truck off the path on the side of the road you can park it by the creek. But when you get there you will want to walk to the right towards the lake. It's a good walk but once you see the big mansions up on the hills and big trees in the water you basically at the spot. The spot in that area has a tree fallen over in the water with its branches half under water. I just get some big marvs catfish cheese punch bait from fishermans corner on the other side of the lake and just get a split shot weight with a treble hook and cast it with the bait about 8 to 10 feet off the tree and you should be able to catch a few cats up in there. When I was there me and my buddy at least caught about 25 if not more. Good luck to you and if you have any more questions PM me and I will answer anything you need for that lake. Good luck to you.
