We use Ivory soap or Zote soap on our limb lines and trotlines if we are going for channel cats or blues cats. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

I've tried it but never had great results personally. I did have pretty good results with plain ole .99/package hot dogs last weekend though.

you can get this at Walmarts.

I've had hit and miss success with it.

P & G lye soap used to be a favorite soap bait. I never had any luck but others swore by it.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Hot dogs always get bored but they don't stay on the hook very well

Zote soap is the only soap I have heard used but why? That is a very low percentage bait to use when shad is plentiful and easy to find this time of year.

I always found soap to work best on trotlines set during the heat of summer. The channel cats would tear it up!
