Thinking about checking out Purtis Creek SP lake for cats. Never fished it but I live 9 miles away and want to check it out. Anybody got ant experience with it? Not looking for anyone's personal honey hole, just general info such as natural baits or prepared baits? Boat or shore? Day or night? Shallow or deep? etc...

Never caught Blues there, but they have some large Channel Cats. I would say bait up an area with some soured Milo or wheat and then fish over the top with punch bait or even cut up minnows

If you fish from those piers you can throw into decent water I think about 14 to 16 feet deep

There are nice blues in there but very few it seems. I have been getting nice channel cats though(10# range) on gold fish. Tommys tackle in Eustace has them. You can catch some pretty nice bass on gold fish too wile waiting on cats. I been fishing on piers unless they are crowded then I fish the cove on the west bank. Live and really energetic bait has been my favorite bait for that lake because there is a ton of turtles in that water and they are relentless. I live about 5 miles from there lately I been there almost every day its a nice lake!

Good to know about the turtles, I was thinking chicken livers and worms on the bottom so I'll rethink that. I'm going to bring a float tube down from CO and was thinking tightline drifting along the bottom in the flooded timber off the west pier may be productive.
