I fished from the dock today at Cedar Creek and landed over 30 fish and all of them were released. There was a steady bite all day. Shad was easy to catch in 4-6 FOW. Biggest fish was 22 lbs. Finally starting to catch the bigger ones after reading advice from you guys!

I bought a small lakehouse on CC Lake and just haven't had a chance to catfish out there yet. Looks like a good lake for catfishing!

Nice works! Cedar Creek is a great fishing lake, will surpass Tawakoni in the near future in terms of quality fisheries, Enjoy your lake while you can...
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

Cedar Creek is the only lake I've been to and never be skunked at. It doesn't matter the weather conditions or number of ski boats on the lake. It may not have to quantity of Trophy Cats but it definitely has a good amount of quality fish.

Nice works! Cedar Creek is a great fishing lake, will surpass Tawakoni in the near future in terms of quality fisheries, Enjoy your lake while you can... Never has been nor will it ever be the catfish lake Tawakoni is, I lived on Tawakoni for a number of years and have fished cc for a number. There's no comparison in the two for size of blue cat. Tawakoni has been putting out very large blues for over thirty years, that I know of. David Hansen of Little D Guide Service was on channel 4 news twenty-five years ago putting 50&60# blues in the boat and he still is. A guy who ran a bait shop and sold catfish back in the late 1960 was taking out 50 and 60# blues weekly and the lake has never slowed down on producing big blues. I guess it is a combination of the soil composition and bait fish forage base. Check the tournament results on each lake and you will come to the same conclusion. Here is one take on the lake. "In 2001, the Texas Legislature declared West Tawakoni the "Catfish Capital of Texas." West Tawakoni is the Catfish Capital of Texas for a good reason. We are located on the west side of Lake Tawakoni which boasts some of the biggest blue cats in the south, and has on more than one occasion produced multiple 5 fish stringers over 200lbs! Lake Tawakoni boasts 225 miles of shoreline, with a large abundance of Crappie, Black Bass, Sand Bass, Striped Bass, Hybrid Bass which of course help feed its MONSTER Catfish."

Never underestimate the power of the government to ruin all that are good and fun... the new Twok regulations will ruin everything you said above.
2 fish over 30" will add millions more excess eggs in the lake every season ... 5 fish 20-30" will kept tens of thousands more squatters in the lakes and they too will spawn and add millions more eggs...
You will need a standing army to catch the dinks catfish in the lake to prevent skinny catfish dinks from taking over the lake and eating their way to extingtion.

West tawakoni is also run down biker bar and beer joint capital. I worked at what used to be called Oakley and believe it is called dales hamburger now 25 years ago. The " businesses " in that area still look the same. The city needs to get ride of the run down places around the lake. That would make it more appealing for people to want to come to the "catfish capital".
