How many of you on here use shrimp and how well does it work for you?

Shrimp works great. Have used it on creeks, rivers and farm ponds... Always take 3 or 4 baits out and shrimp is one of the best baits..

Shrimp has been my #1 catfish bait my entire life. IT's what my dad and his dad fished with. Its what I was taught to use. It's always worked pretty well for us! Especially when its on the stinky side.

And bigger. I remember when I was younger those TV shrimp were pretty huge. You could bait two hook with one shrimp easy. Last time I got some of that they were skinny and almost all shell.

Shrimp has worked very well for me when I've tried it but I've never really caught anything very big with it. Biggest maybe 5-7 lbs. I like using cut perch/carp/buff or shad so I can get bigger fish.

Yes it will work, but I prefer shad for both blues and channels plus a variety of dip/punch baits (stink and cheese baits) for channel cats. I prefer to just eat shrimp on the side along with my catfish fillets, lol.

Having said that, my brother was a diehard shrimp user and always did pretty good using it so I used it as well when I fished with him (usually drift fishing at night, sometimes during the day). Then I started using shad and noticed I caught more fish, it was easy to catch and FREE. Summer rolled along and we went to Grapevine for a night drift trip together. My brother was dead set on proving me wrong so he brought shrimp, I netted shad. When all was said and done, I had a 5 to 1 catch ratio over him. We ended up with 30 catfish fish that night.

I known one person already answered this but for those of you who are successful with shrimp what size cats do you normally catch and do you mostly catch blues or channel?
