I'm supposed to be the Fishing merit badge counselor for my sons Boy Scout troop.
We had plans last week to be on Texoma fishing for catfish at East Burns. Needless to say, our campsite was 10-14 foot under water last week.

So, question is... Where is a good location relatively close to McKinney/Frisco that I could host a campout for around 40-50 boys and adult leaders?

I'm thinking Bridgeport or T-Wak since Bridgeport is still low and T is stable to low. Both are known to be good catfish lakes.

Part of the merit badge requires that the boys catch, clean, prepare and eat. So I'm hoping to be able to get that done I the weekend.

Any suggestions? Locations to camp would be awesome too. I'm thinking at Twak, maybe the state park Bridgeport, there is a Boy Scout camp.

Thanks y'all. Any input would be great Fork is another option if I can find a campsite for us all.

wise county park is on lake Bport, nice place and big. or look at the LBJ grasslands, north of Decatur, lots of ponds to fish and you can camp about anywhere you want, couple camp grounds there too, Blackcreek, Clear lake, and Big Cottonwood lake in grasslands. Good luck and have fun, also state park in Mineral wells is a Great place to go too.

Tawak would be a great place to catch cats from the bank with kids.

Looks like the Scout Camp at Bridgeport is out

Any suggestions for camp site locations on Tawakoni? Or just the state park?

Anchor inn has camping spots, with good banking

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
