How much chum do yall put out at a time ? I fished with some buddys that use 25lbs of cubes on each side of the boat at a time when the bite slows they put out another bag. Ive always put 2 or 3 mugs of grain per chumming. All I gonna say it works fish are about to pop and they still swallow Stubbys bait .So Question is how much do you put out at a time?

I have always used the philosophy you just want to get them hungry and looking for food. So I just throw out a few handfuls of soured grain to get them all worked up.

I've never done any chumming for catfish, but have been wondering if chopping up a 10"-11" shad into tiny pieces would be enough to turn on the bite?
If you haven't chummed an area before and put out range cubes how long would it normally take to attract fish? The hole doesn't have to be baited out for days does it?
Thanks! JB

Thanks! JB Id never ruin good shad like that for chum. But I have cut up smaller threadfins and gizzards for chum before.

I have some milo from last year and it is RIPE. Left a couple small breather holes at the top of the bucket and there are some tiny bugs all inside.
Guessing it will still do the job cuz if they like stink, this is the goods.

You don't want to feed the fish, just excite them into a feeding frenzy. I use a scoop that holds maybe two cups of sour maze and sling one scoop out where I'm fishing.

Fill a 5 gallon bucket about 1/4 full with small shad. Take a drill with a paint mixer on it and give them a good mix. Dump that in some old stockings or paint strainers. Toss em out. Nothing has ever worked better for me.
