Any of you use marshmallows for bait? They�ll float a hook, and I like that. Just curious if anyone uses them as-is, or if you add some sort of scent...

The turtles will love them.

It didn�t take much weight to hold them down, but they�ll float a hook. A 3/16 oz weight easily kept it down, but a Carolina rig allowed it to rise higher than I�d like. Pinch weights 6� from the hook lets the marshmallow float right off of bottom, which is what I want.


Floating it on the surface would be turtle city, you�re right!

1/2 of a large marshmallow floats a 7/0 hook. A large splitshot or pinch on completes the rig

I used them years ago as trotline bait during the cooler months,they melt too fast when the water warms.The way I used mine was to fish them right on bottom tie the weight to the main line so your main line sets right on bottom and the Marshmallow floats the hook up right off bottom. I set mine around the bird trees,when you raised them the first thing you see would be the Mallow floating above the mainline. I used a 2/0 hook with two small Marshmallows .

Thank you taterpop. Them melting was something I had in mind, but I was surprised to see they lasted at least a few hours. I took them off of the hooks before they melted off. Overnight is probably a different story. Appreciate the feedback
