Anybody ever had success on blues at LOP? I've cast netted for shad in the summertime and got a boatload, and it made me wonder if there might be some blues to chase.

There have been two caught over 70 lbs on trotlines that I am personally aware of. I have tried several times w/o any success in spring time. I actually hold the lake record for blue cat on rod and reel. Feel free to attempt to break it if you can. My record is 2 lbs.

I was born and raised in Marshall, I have fished LOP all of my life. The spillway is one of the best places when one of the gates are open. Follow the flow of water past the boat ramp and look where the water has washed out the bank. There are deep holes and eddies from submerged logs. Lots of good blues in late winter and spring along with plenty of gizzard shad off the boat ramp. Also, try Tejas point when the wind is blowing out of the north.

Thanks y'all. I'll give it a go. Txmedic033- I probably am never going to knock you off the list, as I am too lazy to try to certify a fish, but I'll post if I do any good.

The gates are near 100% shut. Very little flow, I wouldn't waste time there. But when it is flowing you can catch some big flatties

Cast it, reel it, jerk it.
