I haven't caught one yet this year, I've fished 5 times from mid April until now in a proven location. Been trying live bluegill, goldfish, and some big live gizzard shad. Might have to try bullheads and live carp next time just to hope they might bite something different. Anybody else seen any reports or caught any flatties this year?

Caught a 35 lbr while drifting for blues last week. Thought I got hung up until he started running. He took a gill head on a rattle rig.

OK, getting ready to post my calendar for June. Running late due to car breaking down & having to work late the last 3 nights at work. Heads up, as there is a 3 day run for YellowCats on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (5th/6th/7th) as to my PYC days (Lynn's Personal YellowCat Days, according to the underlying pattern I found). On the Calendar though, they show as Buffet, Buffet, and YellowCat (BFT/BFT/YC).
Also, if they just are not hitting your live bait, roughen them up a bit, according to Tony, as it simulates a ChannelCat gnawing on them. At least rake a few scales here & there, as it somehow must emit a "wounded" aura.
Calendar will be up on my 2016 thread in about 5 minutes or so.

Gonna try it out tomorrow. Gonna throw an assortment of big live baits at them and see if I can get the fish of a lifetime.

If you are talking about flathead on rod & reel it is normally a slow go. If you are using live bait and in the correct area they will hit it if feeding. Trouble is they don't feed every night and on the nights they feed it may be very early, later, or just before daybreak. I've had a few 5 fish nights but more two and three along with many zero bite nights. Best ever was sixteen in one night on Fairfield and I have photos to prove it along with one ten fish night. About the time you think you have em figured out they can and will show you the theory don't work. Rule #1 let em take the bait for a good long while.

I have had some who Rod-n-Reel use the calendar in spots they have caught Yellows before in & it has worked for them. Last month a Bass fisherman noted the basic reason he drops in on the Catfish section is to get my Catfish Calendar as he uses it to catch Yellows. His comments are in front of me posting the May calendar.

Everything Jackie said is right on the money. Just remember, lots of fresh water right now. Meaning a lot of new ambush spots for those yellow cats. We've been catching them in different areas right now. Not in our traditional areas.

It's hard to pattern them in a lake. Easier in a river.

I'm just gonna keep after em. I'll find somewhere with a big flathead swimming around.
