Caught several channel cats of the rocks along 30 last weekend after the rain. Some the channels were the biggest channel ive ever caught out of hubbard. Was it just a fluke or are they starting to spawn? some of the bigger fish where big fat females with bellies full of eggs and I caught tons of the swollen head ugly males they look like hey have been ran ragged. Didn't even target them we where fishing for crappie with corks and minnows in about 2-6 fow and that all we seemed to catch.

Probably not still early. A lot of times though the cats will come to that area before they start spawning just to feed as they are thinking about doing the wild thing. Marks on the body and head could be from fighting but it could also be from chasing shad and catching crayfish in and against the rocks

They follow the shad spawn in April and then spawn in May-June sometimes in to July. I've caught limits as early as April 4th.
