I'm a big bass fisherman but want to try catfishing more. Are there any areas around McKinney or DFW that I can have any luck this time of year from the bank? Like any creeks or lakes below the dam?

If you go to a creek or river, just find timber in the water that has medium current and drop cut shad right in front of it. Cats hide in cover in the current to ambush fish. If you find wood in a slightly deeper spot it's usually $$$. If you don't get hit in 10 minutes move it to a different spot on the wood. If you're there for 20-30 minutes (depending on the size of the cover) and nothing, move on to the next one. You can also catch flatheads that way with bigger live bait.
